A Temporary Home
January 22, 2007
The Coleys were able to move in to their temporary home just before Christmas. Chey Cobb has been faithfully by their side since their house burned, and keeps a blog that is devoted to recording their story as it unfolds. I strongly encourage you to read through it to get a fuller picture of how things have transpired, but in case you don't here is a clip from Chey's post on 12/26/2006:

Posted by: chrisHelen and family are all moved in to their new apartment and everything looks bright for 2007!
The family got gifts from the Salvation Army and Catholic Charities. A woman named Karen Lee Hogan and her family "adopted" Helen's family for Christmas and showered them with gifts and gift certificates! They now have just about everything they need as far as household necessities go. Thank you very much one and all!
An added bonus... we got a letter from St. Johns County saying that they will tear down the old house for FREE and cart away all the debris! They will also take care of all the necessary permits for the demolition. That saves us literally thousands of dollars. This is all done through a special program (with limited resources, of course). I don't know how they heard about our plight, or who put us in for consideration, but this is all wonderful news.
