Glenda's New Walker
December 1, 2006
Yesterday was a big day. On Wednesday the 29th we received Glenda's new walker, which aside from being brand spanking new has a seat, a basket, better breaks, and a better wheel-locking mechanism. Yesterday (Thursday the 30th) we packed up the walker with a couple things in the basket, and headed to Glenda's neighborhood along with our friends Dustin Miller and Alex Brownley.

We arrived to find Glenda and her sister sitting in a car, preparing the for weekly Sandwich Mission get together. When she saw us she smiled and greeted us. We chatted for a minute before telling her that we had come to give her a new walker. She was excited and started to get out as we brought it over. She exclaimed over it's condition and tried it out, testing the breaks, locks, etc. Gleaming, she began imparting words of joy, gratitude, and faith - you can't be around Glenda for more than 5 minutes without hearing her talk about God's goodness.

In her outpouring she graced us with another encouraging statement. She said how grateful to God she was for putting it on our hearts to reach out to others. She said that she had no idea God would be providing her with a new walker, and how we had no idea that we would cross paths with her. She continued by saying that this is what God wants people to do, to love one another. I told her wholeheartedly, I believe that too.

Along with a personal note from us, we packed a new shirt into her basket. It was one of the shirts for the Coley family, whose destroyed house is also in West Augustine near Glenda's neighborhood. She was grateful all over again.

This was a big day for Glenda, and a big day for Rosa Loves. We brought her a new walker that we purchased with money raised by selling shirts, shirts that told her story. Many of you reading this may have bought her shirt, which means you know her story and helped buy her walker. That's crazy! When we were with Glenda we told her that people from all over the country had read her story and bought her shirt (Maryland, Washington, Pennsylvania, Florida ...). She laughed, and then she thanked everyone. We told her that we would share her gratitude, so from Glenda to you, THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU. And from us, thank you.
